
If you can remove your key with the ignition on, there are one of three possiblities the first two being the most likely as there wasn't too many of the third done!!ġ)The retainer pins that identify your key in the lock and tumbler are worn down to the point where your key slides in and out easy to the effect that you can remove the key with the ignition in the run position.

Actually to keep the car running without the keys being in the ignition was a seperate switch that could be ordered for the 9c-1, it allowed the car to be running with the key out but you needed to replace it in the ignition to unlock the column to allow the car to be driven.
